President says he will not retire after 2020

NEWSNOW | COLOMBO – President Maithripala Sirisena says he will not retire by 2020 as he has to fulfil a lot more responsibilities.

He said this while addressing the May Day rally organized by the Sri Lanka Freedom Party at Mawediwembu in Chenkalady, Batticaloa yesterday (May 07).

Only a few out of the 16 former SLFP Ministers who resigned from the government recently were present at the rally.

Except, MP. S. B. Dissanayake others – Dayasiri Jayasekera, Dilan Perera, and Thilanga Sumathipala were not seated on the stage.

They waited at the entrance of the sports ground.

However, other members of the group, Chandima Weerakkody, Lakshman Yapa Abeywardana, W. D. J. Senevirathna, Anura Priyadarshana Yapa, Susil Premajayantha, Susantha Punchinilame, Anuradha Jayarathna, Taranath Basnayake, T.B. Ekanayake, Sudarshani Fernandopulle and Sumeda J Jayasena were absent.
