COVID-19 detections dropped in Sri Lanka

According to the Epidemiology Unit Reports, Daily COVID-19 detections in Sri lanka dropped to 583 on 5th March. This was the lowest since January 2022. Sri Lankas daily detections from January this year remained above 600. A gradual decline in daily detections has been observed this week.

A total of 648,993 COVID-19 cases have been detected so far. 7,563 cases are returning from Oversees. This includes 7,235 Sri Lankan returnees from overseas and 328 foreigners.

Highest number of Covid 19 positive cases are reported from Colombo, according to The Epidemiology Unit. 135,081 persons from Colombo, 112,612 persons from Gampaha, 57,459 persons from Kalutara, 43,348 persons from Galle and 30,842 persons from Kurunegala are the major contents to the toll.
