According to a written statement from the Elysee Palace, French President Emmanuel Macron discussed the Russia-Ukraine war with Russian President Vladimir Putin on the phone.
He told ‘ on the phone that an immediate ceasefire should be applied.
Macron conveyed to Putin the international community’s demand for an end to the attack on Ukraine and stated that an immediate ceasefire should be implemented.
Emmanuel Macron asked Putin to halt attacks on civilians and settlements, safeguard all civilian infrastructure, and assure the safety of roadways, particularly the driveway south of Ukraine’s capital, Kyiv, during their meeting.
Putin expressed his “will to engage” in these three issues.
Demanding respect for international humanitarian law, the protection of the civilian population, and the provision of humanitarian aid during the meeting, Macron suggested to Putin to stay in touch in the coming days. Putin also acknowledged this.
In the previous few hours, Macron spoke with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy on the phone multiple times.
