A senior official from the US Department of Defense (Pentagon) announced that Russia has put 75 percent of its military force deployed on the Ukrainian border into the war so far and has not yet achieved superiority in Ukrainian airspace.
As the Russia-Ukraine war leaves its 5th day behind, a senior Pentagon official, who made a statement to a group of journalists, stated that the resistance of the Ukrainian forces continues.
The official said that Russia has launched 368 missiles into Ukraine so far and has put 75 percent of its previously deployed force for war into Ukraine.
“Ukraine still has an important air defense capacity and can operate it,” the Pentagon official said, explaining that Ukraine’s air superiority in specific locations has shifted between Ukraine and Russia. “Russia still does not have air superiority over Ukraine,” he claimed.
The official stated that all the forces that entered Ukraine were Russian soldiers, and they did not see the Belarusian soldiers entering Ukraine.
Stating that there was no change in the situation of the Russian forces in the Black Sea, the official said that they did not see any attack on Odesa.
Stating that they think Russia wants to use the siege tactic instead of entering Kyiv, the official said, “Of course, we are worried that the anger that will occur if they cannot take Kyiv will lead to a more aggressive attitude by the Russians.” he said.
The senior official refrained from going into the details of US military aid but stated that air defense capabilities would be included in the package to be sent.
