Energy Minister Gamini Lokuge has said it will take at least seven more months to end the current fuel and gas crisis.
He also said that the government was unable to control the situation on the world stage.
‘With the global economic situation in decline, it is not possible to sell coconuts to bring dollars into the country. We are at the beginning of the difficulty in bringing in dollars.’ said Minister Lokuge.
He, therefore, pointed out that the President is trying to revive the country’s economy by strengthening tourism and exports.
Minister Lokuge said it would take the government at least seven to eight months to tackle the current problems.
Most gas stations were out of fuel and some filling stations had low fuel prices and people had to wait for hours to get it.
It is worth noting that in this situation, impatient people are protesting around many gas stations.
