Former Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe has warned that if Sri Lanka’s present issue is not resolved quickly, the country could face a situation similar to Greece.
Ranil Wickremesinghe, a Member of Parliament, stated this at an event conducted yesterday.
At the same time, the UNP leader stated that now was not the time to attempt to overthrow the government, but rather to concentrate on resolving the country’s crisis.
Following the financial crisis of 2007-2008, Greece faced a debt issue. A series of drastic reforms and austerity measures were used to get it to the people.
Poverty, loss of income and property, as well as humanitarian issues, resulted from this circumstance.
Furthermore, Ranil Wickremesinghe stated that Sri Lanka could meet the same fate as Greece and that attempts to save Sri Lanka should be made as soon as possible.
He went on to say that resolving the economic crisis would require a concerted effort and that the national government would be unable to function in the current condition.
