Sri Lanka Muslim Congress (SLMC) MP Nasir Ahmed has been expelled from the party, party leader Rauf Hakeem has said.
Meanwhile, ‘four MPs from the party voted in favor of the budget. They were asked to explain in this regard. The explanation they had sent was explored.
The inquiry will be headed by a retired judge in connection with the explanation sent by the three. Until then he will be suspended from party membership.
The explanation given by Nasir Ahmed was not satisfactory. It mentions untrue things.
Meanwhile, the decision was taken at a meeting chaired by party leader Rauf Hakeem this evening.
It has also decided to launch disciplinary proceedings against other MPs who previously supported the government and later witihdrew from it.
