The Presidential Council established in Yemen stated that they will abide by the ceasefire declared by the United Nations (UN) Special Envoy for Yemen, Hans Grundberg, despite the violations of the Iran-backed Houthis.
According to the Yemeni news agency SABA, the Presidential Council chaired by Rashad al-Alimi held a meeting in the interim capital Aden.
At the meeting, which focused on the military developments in Yemen, it was stated that the ceasefire would be respected despite the violations of the Houthis.
It was stated that the violations of the Houthis showed that they did not want peace and did not care about the troubles of the Yemeni people.
Hans Grundberg, the UN Special Envoy for Yemen, announced that the Yemeni government and the Houthis agreed to suspend air, land, and sea operations for two months, starting at 19:00 local time on April 2nd.
Grundberg stated that the parties also agreed on the entry of fuel vessels into Hudeyde Port and commercial flights from Sana Airport to predetermined points in the region.
