President’s Secretary Mr. Saman Ekanayake says that he signed the letter regarding the release of Ranjan Ramanayake, who was serving a prison sentence, with the approval of the President.
Meanwhile, opposition leader Sajith Premadasa came to Welikada prison this morning (26) to inquire about Ranjan Ramanayake’s well-being.
Then speaking to the media, the opposition leader said that he hoped that this would be the last time he would meet Mr. Ranjan Ramanayake in prison.
It is noteworthy, Justice Minister Wijedasa Rajapaksa had recently said that as per President Ranil Wickremesinghe’s recommendation, necessary steps will be taken to pardon and release Ranjan Ramanayake under the amnesty of the President.(NewsNow)
