Several regional offices of Sri Lanka’s Consular Affairs Division of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs have been closed down until further notice due to a computer system breakdown, the Ministry said, a move that could delay attestations of key documents of those who aspire to leave the country for education and employment purposes.
The ministry said the operations in its main office in Colombo 01 and regional offices in Jaffna, Trincomalee, Matara, Kandy, Kurunegala, will be suspended until further notice.
“The system repairs are underway and the public will be notified once the Verification and Attestation process has resumed,” the ministry said in a statement.
“Other Consular services will continue without any interruption. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs apologizes for any inconvenience this may cause to the public.”
