The depression lay centered at latitude 11.4N and longitude 84.6E about 540 km northeast of Jaffna over southwest Bay of Bengal, will gradually weaken and move northwestward.
It is very likely to move towards Tamil Nadu-Puducherry coasts during next 24 hours, the Meteorology Department says.
Showers will occur in Western and Southern coastal areas and in Northern province.
Strong winds about 40-50 kmph can be expected at times over the Northern, North-Central and Eastern provinces.(NewsNow)
