The National Tsunami Early Warning Center has stated that there is no threat to Sri Lanka due to the 7.9 magnitude earthquake in Indonesia.

The center also stated that there is no threat to Sri Lanka.

It has also been further announced that the coastal areas of Sri Lanka are safe.

Foreign media reported that an earthquake has occurred in Tanimbar, Indonesia.

The European Mediterranean Seismological Center (EMSC) said the quake struck at a depth of 97 kilometers (60.27 miles) underground.
