The engineers of the plant said that due to non-supply of naphtha by the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation, the Kelanitissa Combined Cycle Power Plant will have to be temporarily shut down from tonight (12th).
It is the first time that when the petroleum corporation has naphtha stocks, they are not given for the operation of the plant.
Engineers point out that the Petroleum Corporation already has a stock of six and a half million liters of naphtha.
The engineers pointed out that although ‘Naptha’ is not provided because the Ceylon Electricity Board does not have the money, the result is that this plant will be out of operation and they will have to go to alternative ways to find the 165 megawatts lost to the national system.
