Ukraine and Russia are locked in an information war as well as a deadly struggle in the salt-mining town of Soledar in Ukraine’s eastern Donetsk region at the end of the 46th week of the war.
Wagner Group’s mercenaries have been fighting to take Soledar for weeks in an apparent attempt to encircle Bakmut, 10 kilometers (four miles) to the south, which has been the focus of Russian offensive operations since September.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has said fighting is still raging in a key eastern front town it previously said was controlled by a group of Russian mercenaries.
The terrorist state and its propagandists are trying to pretend they have achieved some success in Soledar, Zelensky said, “but the battle continues”.
