A number of prisoners will receive pardons today in view of the 75th Independence Day in accordance with the rights granted by Article 34 of the Constitution.
A total of 622 prisoners were released on Presidential Pardon today (Feb. 04), the President’s Media Division (PMD) says.
These inmates were pardoned in view of the 75th Independence Day of Sri Lanka.
Meanwhile, the President has pardoned numerous inmates who were imprisoned on drug-related offences and are receiving rehabilitation.
Furthermore, 31 inmates who have been on good behaviour during their prison sentence have been directed to the Prison Licensing Board and approved for release tomorrow.
