A newborn infant was discovered abandoned in the lavatory of a train bound for Colombo from Batticaloa.
The infant was discovered yesterday, March 10 at the Fort Central Railway Station.
Railway Security officials took custody of the infant and rushed it to the National Hospital of Sri Lanka (NHSL) for treatment.
Authorities are checking CCTV footage in order to locate the infant’s mother.
