Minister of Justice Wijeyadasa Rajapakshe says that some police stations are violating the laws of drug possession.

Speaking to the media, the minister said that the reports of the gove ment inspector have proved that several drug-related incidents are falsely reported in some police stations.

Commenting further, he stated,
“People are arrested and remanded with substances considered to be drugs. However, this can be powder or panadol. Months later, when the Gove ment Analysts report was submitted, it was reported that the substance was not an illegal drug. This is an unfair situation.’

The Minister of Justice also mentioned that there are many complaints from the public that drug-related cases are being wrongly filed against certain suspects for revenge.
