Deshbandu Tennakoon, Senior Deputy Inspector General (SDIG) of Police In-charge of Western Province is considered as the most likely candidate to be appointed as the next Inspector General of Police (IGP).
It is reported that SDIG Tennakoon is considered the senior most law enforcement officer in Sri Lanka’s Police Department after IGP C.D Wickremeratne.
SDIG Tennakoon–an alumni of Nalanda College Colombo–joined the Police Department as an Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) after graduating from the University of Sri Jayawardanapura (USJ).
