Saudi Arabia’s King Salman on Tuesday sent his best wishes for Ramadan to citizens of the Kingdom and Muslims everywhere, expressing his hope that the holy month will bring hope and peace to Muslims and the entire world.
According to the Saudi Press Agency, he gave instructions to those in charge of providing services for visitors to the Two Holy Mosques to keep working at the greatest levels of effectiveness and perfection to guarantee that pilgrims can carry out their rites with comfort and peace.
The Supreme Court had declared that Ramadan will start on Thursday, and the monarch was speaking as he presided over the weekly Cabinet meeting at Irqah Palace in Riyadh.
Salman Al-Dosari, the Saudi Arabian minister of media, reported that ministers had examined a number of topics that had been brought up during meetings with senior Saudi officials over the previous week in an effort to strengthen ties and the Kingdom’s status and role in the region and around the world.
Ministers discussed Saudi Arabia’s participation in the 49th meeting of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation’s Council of Foreign Ministers, during which the country’s representatives reaffirmed the Kingdom’s continued support for cooperative efforts, particularly in the humanitarian and development sectors, as well as its unwavering stance in favor of peaceful coexistence and respect among all people.
The Cabinet took notice of the Kingdom’s promise to support the earthquake victims in Turkey and Syria, help lessen the impacts of the catastrophe, and aid in the recovery process, made on Monday during an international donors’ conference in Brussels.
Ministers reaffirmed that such initiatives reflect the Kingdom’s ongoing dedication to demonstrating solidarity with and meeting the needs of underprivileged people all over the world.
The Council of Ministers stated that recent favorable assessments of the Kingdom’s economy by credit-rating agencies demonstrated the efficacy of the state’s reforms, which included the advancement of public-finance management, enhancements to the standard of financial planning, and the more effective use of resources under the financial sustainability program.
In accordance with the objectives of Saudi Vision 2030, Al-Dosari claimed that the Kingdom’s rise of 15 spots on the World Intellectual Property Organization’s Global Innovation Index 2022 is a reflection of the continued interest in and support for raising the standard of the research, development, and innovation sector.
A memorandum of understanding relating to the digital economy between the Saudi Ministry of Communications and Information Technology and its Chinese counterpart as well as one for cultural collaboration between the Saudi and Mexican cultural ministries were both authorized by the Cabinet.
Additionally, it gave the minister of Islamic affairs, dawah, and guidance permission to negotiate a draft memorandum of understanding with the Somali Ministry of Endowments and Religious Affairs about Islamic matters.
Two agreements with South Africa were accepted by ministers, one for cooperation in a feasibility study for the creation of a joint fund to promote direct investment and the other for cooperation in the maritime transport sector.
They gave their consent for a draft air services agreement with the Polish government to be signed by the minister of transportation and logistics and the head of the General Authority of Civil Aviation.
The Cabinet also gave the chairman of the Education and Training Evaluation Commission permission to sign a draft cooperation agreement with the Arab League Educational, Cultural and Scientific Organization for the evaluation and accreditation of Arabic language curriculum and activities.
A deal between the Saudi Public Prosecution Office and its Tajik counterpart for preventing the financing of terrorism, money laundering, and other related charges was approved by ministers.
They also adopted changes to a bylaw for protecting personal data and added the Human Rights Commission to the secondment and employment committee of regional and international organizations and bodies.
