Sri Lanka Goes Green with Arrival of Imported Electric Vehicles

Manusha Nanayakkara, the minister of labor and foreign employment, declared that the deadline for the import of electric vehicles would be extended until August 2023 using funds sent by migrant employees from Sri Lanka.

Minister Nanayakkara added that a system will be set up to award import permits for electric vehicles to other individuals who bring money into Sri Lanka on a personal basis.

He made these comments while taking part in an event put on by Overland Automobile (PVT) Ltd to introduce some imported electric cars to Sri Lanka.

Speaking here, the minister announced that the time limit for granting permits to foreign employees based on their remittances was extended to August this year from May to December of last year.
