At least 35 killed after India temple collapses (VIDEO)

In the Indian state of Madhya Pradesh’s capital city of Indore, 35 people have perished while offering prayers in a shrine.

One individual is still missing, according to reports in foreign media, and 14 more people have been saved from this accident.

The deceased were standing on a concrete slab atop a well when it collapsed under their weight, according to the authorities.

They fell into the 12 meter deep well while standing on the concrete slab enclosing it during a prayer ritual held at the Beleshwar Mahadev Jhulelal temple.

75 people, including members of the State and National Disaster Response Force, are working on rescue efforts while a search operation is being conducted to locate the missing individual.

According to reports in foreign media, Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has declared a compensation of Rs 500,000 for each decedent’s family and Rs 50,000 for each injured party.

The victims’ relatives have received the condolences of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
