A recent research claims that masters like Rembrandt, Sandro Botticelli, and Leonardo da Vinci used proteins in their oil paintings.

In particular, egg flesh has reportedly been used for proteins, according to foreign media.

There are very few written sources on the topic, according to study author Ophélie Ranquet, from the Institute of Mechanical Process Engineering and Mechanics at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology in Germany, and no scientific work has been done to thoroughly examine the topic.

According to additional reports in foreign media, the artists were able to preserve their paintings for a very long period by adding egg yolk to them.
