On April 24, it will be decided whether State Minister Diana Gamage will be detained or not for allegedly breaking the Immigration and Emigration Act.
The Colombo Chief Magistrate made the pertinent judgment today (April 6), when a petition calling for Gamage’s detention under Section 32 of the Code of Criminal Procedure Act was brought before the court.
Due to allegations regarding her citizenship, the State Minister is currently in danger of losing her position in Parliament. Social activist Oshala Herath filed a complaint with the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption (CIABOC) asking for an investigation into the State Minister’s issuance of a diplomatic passport by the Department of Immigration and Emigration.
