The Thaldena Open Prison Rehabilitation Center in Badulla’s four other inmates who escaped the facility yesterday have been apprehended.
Six out of the nine escapees have been apprehended thus far, according to the police, with the capture of the four prisoners.
The four prisoners who were apprehended yesterday are from Wellampitiya, Dematagoda, Mattakkuliya, and Maligawatte and range in age from 23 to 27.
The accused will be presented before the Badulla Magistrate’s Court today, according to the police.
Early yesterday morning (17), nine detainees of the Thaldena Open Prison Rehabilitation Center in Badulla escaped from the facility.
Following their escape, two of the prisoners were immediately captured, and an inquiry was started to apprehend the other escapees.
Youths convicted of drug-related and petty offenses are housed at the Thaldena Open Prison Rehabilitation Center in Badulla, according to the Prisons Department.
