According to The Sunday Times, the Government is considering renaming the Colombo Lotus Tower “Colombo Tower” and deleting the “Lotus” from the name.
“There have been suggestions that the word “Lotus” be removed from the tower’s name since some people feel it is inappropriate.A name change, according to sources, would at least partially prevent the skyscraper from being perpetually referred to as another Rajapaksa white elephant.The Sunday Times news report continued, “It is already known as the “Rajapaksa Tower” and is criticized for being a prestige project of the previous administration while resulting in a significant financial loss for the nation.
