A robotic trash boat equipped with artificial intelligence (AI) will now clean the Gomti River and remove water hyacinth.

The project to make rivers clean will get a new chapter with the introduction of this boat.

A boat has been created that will unpollutedly drop two quintals of rubbish into the river every hour in order to remove micro waste together with the common waste.

The boat is currently being tested on the Gomti at the Laxman Mela Ghat by the experts from the Centre for Innovation, Policy, and Social Change (CIPSC).

Karishma Sabharwal, director of CIPSC, stated: “The trials are being undertaken following several months of research. As soon as the 30-day trial is up, it will be given to the municipal corporation.

Even the smallest river rubbish may be removed by the robotic trash boat’s tiny mesh. Any type of trash, including hyacinth and polythene, can be cleaned by the boat.

An somebody sitting on the riverbank can operate the boat using a remote. When two quintals of waste have been collected, the sensor installed in it automatically returns the boat to shore.

She claimed that the Gomti in the city will appear clean if three to four boats are deployed from Pucca Pul in the old city to Nishatganj bridge.

Advanced technology was used to create a zero-carbon immersion boat that is self-propelled and entirely powered by solar panels.

The boat features a front-facing camera that detects and collects rubbish floating in the water, including plastic, hyacinth, and other debris.

The boat’s conveyor belt collects the trash in the storage area at the back.

The storage capacity is 200 kg at the moment.

Roshan Jacob, the divisional commissioner, has ordered that the boat’s load-bearing capability be increased by 1,000 kg.
