Ranil Wickremesinghe, the president, has departed for the UK in order to see King Charles III’s coronation.
The President will attend the coronation of Charles III and his wife, Camilla, as His Majesty The King and Her Majesty The Queen Consort of the United Kingdom, respectively, along with other dignitaries from across the world.
The Commonwealth Summit for Presidents and Heads of Government of Commonwealth countries will be held on May 5 in London as the Commonwealth Secretariat takes advantage of the gathering of world leaders ahead of the coronation.
Charles III would be solemnly crowned as the British monarch on May 6, eight months after the dying of his mother, Queen Elizabeth II, in a grand ceremony at Westminster Abbey.
Their Majesties’ Coronation The first in nearly 70 years, the King and Queen Consort will be a once-in-a-generation occasion. A religious ceremony that hasn’t altered much in a thousand years will be on show, in all its majesty and excitement. The Archbishop of Canterbury will preside over the Coronation ceremony.
