Today, May 9, President Ranil Wickremesinghe is due to meet with the Tamil National Alliance (TNA) to discuss a number of issues that the Tamil community finds to be of importance.
TNA Parliamentary Group Leader R Sampanthan released a statement in which he said the party is prepared to ‘constructively participate in negotiations with the government’ in an effort to resolve the Tamil National issue, however within a fixed time frame.
The statement went on to say that the TNA will not listen to any debates that contradict the idea that Tamil-speaking people have historically lived in both the Northern and Eastern regions.
