The physicians at Kurunegala Teaching Hospital have left their positions as of this morning (May 11), allegedly due to an incidence of threatening behavior.
On May 8, 2008, a guy allegedly made threats against the medical staff at the hospital’s maternity section.
According to a journalist for Ada Derana, the physicians chose to skip work today in protest at the failure of law enforcement to apprehend the suspect.
The symbolic strike, however, has no impact on the hospital’s emergency care services.
According to reports, the physicians’ action this morning affected a huge number of patients.
The token strike is anticipated to go until eight in the morning tomorrow.
