A gazette has been released with the law amending the election process for the provincial council.
Mr. M. A. Sumanthiran, a member of parliament for the Jaffna District, filed the measure.
According to reports, if the required measure is introduced in the legislature and approved, the provincial council election can be held using the traditional voting process.
Accordingly, it is said that this new measure will abolish the Provincial Council Elections Amendment Act No. 17 of 2017.
