Kanchana Wijesekera, the minister of power and energy, has asked the World Bank for help in conducting a thorough analysis of the tariff structure and its effects on both the poor and vulnerable populations.
The Minister tweeted that a presentation titled “Assessing the Distributional Impact of Electricity Tariffs Increase in Sri Lanka” was given this morning (12 May) and included the findings in this area as well as the effects the most recent rise in energy rates has had.
The World Bank Team on Poverty and Equity Global Practice delivered the pertinent presentation.
