The world’s first international environmental university will be founded in Sri Lanka, according to President Ranil Wickremesinghe, to help the worldwide effort to address climate change.
He said this while visiting the Bandaranaike Memorial International Conference Hall (BMICH) for the 10th Environment Pioneer President’s Medal Awarding Ceremony 2020–2021.
The President asked several nations to join Sri Lanka in the endeavor, recognizing that although climate change is a big concern for the whole globe, there is no central research centre to investigate it.
Additionally, President Wickremesinghe emphasized that current initiatives have merely postponed climate change, not reversed it.
At the occasion, 129 environmental pioneers received Presidential Medals in recognition of their outstanding contribution to teachers, schools, local environmental officials, and offices.
