According to the Government Information Department (DGI), the Cabinet of Ministers has approved the import of 25,000 metric tonnes of urea fertilizer for the 2023 Yala season.
It has apparently been determined that about 25,000 MT of urea has to be imported for the 2023 Yala season due to concerns over the quantities of urea fertilizers that are now accessible in both the state fertilizer enterprises and the private sector.
As a result, the Cabinet has given the green light for the Ceylon Fertilizer Company Ltd. to import 60% of the pertinent quantity of urea and the Colombo Commercial Fertilizers Ltd. to import 40% of that amount.
Agriculture Minister Mahinda Amaraweera delivered the pertinent suggestion to the Cabinet.
