Today (May 23), the Center for Environmental Justice (CEJ) asked the Supreme Court to hold a full bench hearing on the fundamental rights (FR) petition regarding the MV X-Press Pearl maritime accident.
The request was made via a motion that was submitted to the Supreme Court.
Recently, the CEJ submitted a FR petition to the Supreme Court asking for an investigation into the environmental harm brought on by the X-Press Pearl ship’s fire.
In its move, the organization has asked the Chief Justice to name the whole Supreme Court bench to hear the FR petition, which was submitted with the intention of promoting the welfare of the public.
It has been decided to consider the motion on May 24.
