According to Janaka Ratnayake, the Sri Lankan people have been defeated by the removal of him as Chairman of the Public Utilities Commission of Sri Lanka (PUCSL).

This evening (May 24), just after parliament approved a motion to remove him from his position, Mr. Ratnayake held a press conference and also made it clear that he would definitely run for president.

“This failure is not mine; it is a defeat for the whole nation. I don’t object to this elimination,” he remarked.

“I am taking my chair and the table. I packed them all yesterday itself.”

Commenting further, he expressed that “I think this is a basic step to take a government in the future”.

“I have said that I will definitely run for the presidential election”.

The motion to remove Ratnayake as the PUCSL Chairman was approved by Parliament this evening (24) by a margin of 43 votes, with 123 MPs supporting it and 77 voting against it.
