Today, May 31, the Ministry of Power and Energy and the Korea Institute for Advancement of Technology (KIAT) inked a contract to create Sri Lanka’s first floating solar project.
In order to create two floating solar projects of 1 MW each, KIAT granted a grant of USD 5.2 million to the sustainable energy authority, according to Minister Kanchan Wijesekera.
The project, which is expected to be finished in December 2024, will be built by Korean Engineering Companies on the reservoirs known as “Chandrika Wewa” and “Kiri Ibban Wewa” in the provinces of Sabaragamuwa and Uva, respectively.
