For the sake of carrying out the tasks of the Human Trafficking, Smuggling, and Maritime Crimes Investigations Division, the Sri Lanka Police has been given a vehicle equipped with the necessary amenities by the Australian Federal Police.
The Australian Federal Police frequently offers assistance to the Sri Lanka Police when it takes action against transnational crimes, such as people smuggling and human trafficking, according to a statement from the Sri Lanka Police.
As a token of such support, the vehicle equipped with the necessary amenities has been given to the Sri Lanka Police.
At the Australian High Commission in Colombo, Deputy Inspector General of Police in command of the Police Transport Range, Buddhika Siriwardhana, received the aforementioned vehicle from a senior member of the Australian Federal Police, Robert Wilson.
In his remarks on the occasion, Robert Wilson praised the Sri Lankan Police for helping the Australian Government fight international crime as a partner in international law enforcement.
The Australian Federal Police also expressed their appreciation for the Sri Lanka Police’s tenacious efforts in stopping illicit people-smuggling operations that are occurring in Sri Lanka.
