Today in Rajagiriya, the National People’s Power (NPP) organized a large-scale demonstration in front of the National Election Commission.
The protest was held to demand that the Election Commission hold the nearly three-month-delayed local government elections.
Participating in the protest today were NPP candidates who planned to run in the local government elections.
Elections for the local council have been put off by the government several times, alleging a lack of funding.
