An American tourist has become involved in a nasty skirmish with a kangaroo at a Perth zoo.
Footage of the attack filmed by the man’s daughter shows him smiling nervously as he fended off the aggressive marsupial.
‘My dad was just trying to make sure that kangaroo stopped getting frisky with that lady,’ the man’s daughter captioned the video on TikTok.
The clip started with a woman trying to get away from the animal before the tourist came between them.
In response the marsupial reared up, jumping at and clawing at the man as he tried to keep it at bay.
A woman behind the camera shouted out to the man as she laughed: ‘Here’s your chance to fight a kangaroo.’
She was then heard continuously laughing as the kangaroo carried on with the assault.
The dad, wearing a black t-shirt, cap, blue jeans and brown boots, lifted up his leg to defend himself but the animal continues to come at him before a younger man came in to help.
Both men at one point held the front paws of the kangaroo to stop it from scratching but it launched both legs at them while balancing up on its tail.
Both men tried to walk away from the animal but the kangaroo continued to follow, kicking and jumping at them.
Finally the ‘roo was placated after a staff member at the zoo intervened, telling the two men to walk away.
