According to the administration, a thorough effort to regularly examine establishments and sites for dengue control is under way in the Western Province.
The scheme is intended to lessen the transmission of dengue fever and was recommended by the Western Provincial Sub-Committee of the Experts Committee on Dengue Control, which was established by President Ranil Wickremesinghe.
According to the President’s Media Division (PMD), particular inspection days have been designated under this effort for various sorts of establishments.
As a result, every Monday will see inspections at private schools, public schools, preschools, private educational institutions, and higher education facilities (universities/Piriven). Construction sites, factories, other private institutions, and other governmental institutions will all be inspected on Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays, respectively. Additionally, inspections of homes, gardens, and religious shrines will take place on the weekends, with homes, gardens, and shrines being checked out on Saturdays and Sundays, respectively.
According to the PMD, institutions that require inspections on various days are encouraged to notify the office of the relevant Medical Officer of Health (MOH) so that the required preparations can be made.
It is essential that designated volunteer teams from the relevant institutions conduct the inspections on the appointed days in order to guarantee the efficacy of these checks. As a result, these teams ought to provide the appropriate Medical Officer of Health with monthly reports.
While waiting for the daily reported dengue cases to decline, preschoolers and schools have been encouraged to wear protective gear to reduce the danger of mosquito bites. This preventative strategy attempts to lower additional costs linked to health problems related to dengue.
