According to Manusha Nanayakkara, minister of labor and foreign employment, a special permit has been obtained to integrate the Japanese language into the primary school curriculum.

Speaking to the legislature today (22), Nanayakkara said that this choice was made with the future Japanese labor market in mind.

The minister highlighted that as a result, the required preparations are already being made in conjunction with the Ministry of Education in order to start the process of teaching the Japanese language to schoolchildren.

The minister also claimed that a program had been started to build a pool of 5,000 trainees in the Japanese language who would be aimed at the Japanese labor market.
