The time limit to cease musical performances, which was previously set at 10 p.m., has been changed, according to Minister of Tourism Harin Fernando, in accordance with a Supreme Court order.
As a result, the time limit to finish musical performances on Fridays and Saturdays will be extended until 1 a.m.; however, musical performances on Sundays must end at 12.30 a.m.
The minister said, “But the order also requires that a fair distance be maintained between the location of the musical performances and places of worship.”
According to Minister Fernando, the Supreme Court issued this order after taking into account a Fundamental Rights (FR) petition that was submitted in this case and sought to prolong the original deadline for ending the musical performances.
