The SriLankan Airlines cockpit crew has come under fire from Minister of Civil Aviation Nimal Siripala de Silva for refusing to operate regular flights in the event of a medical emergency.
Minister Nimal Siripala reportedly told that because a fellow officer had become ill, the SriLankan Airlines cockpit crew had been asked to fly regular flights.
“When the first officer on duty became ill, 20 or more first officers were off duty. I telephoned the cops and asked for their help in running the flights because it had upset the passengers. None of the first officers gave a positive response and declined to fly the plane, the minister added.
