According to preliminary data from the Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority, there were 61,183 tourists that arrived in Sri Lanka during the first 20 days of June.
Sri Lanka has attracted 70% of the 87,521 foreign tourists that the tourism sector aimed to attract in June. The island nation should receive 26,338 visitors from June 21 to June 30; this equates to an average of 2,633 visitors every day.
The total number of visitors from 1 January to 20 June 2023 is now 585,669.
The average number of arrivals every day so far in June has been 3,059, so far. Tourist arrivals to Sri Lanka grew to 20,541 in the second week of June from 19,365 in the first. Tourist arrivals increased slightly to 20, 986 in the third week.
India continues to be Sri Lanka’s biggest source of tourists. 28 percent of all June visitors came from the neighboring giant. In second place, with 9% of the overall tourist intake, is the Russian Federation, while in third place, with 7% of the total tourist influx, is the United Kingdom.
While China is now the fifth-largest source market for Sri Lankan tourism, Australia remains the island nation’s fourth-largest source market.
Canada, Germany, the United States, the Maldives, and France are further noteworthy markets.
