The second stage of the Ceylon Electricity Board’s (CEB) e-billing system will go live on July 1st, 2023, according to the announcement.
The CEB said in a news release that residents of the Dehiwala, Kelaniya, and Sri Jayewardenepura areas will ‘exclusively’ get their electricity bills by email or SMS in a digital format.
The practice of issuing printed paper bills will end with the implementation of the e-billing system.
The issue of printed paper bills will progressively be discontinued in the upcoming month, so the CEB is urging its clients to sign up as soon as possible for the e-billing system.
The CEB stated that the adoption of the e-billing system is anticipated to save about 100 million sheets of paper yearly and is asking for the public’s attention and participation to ensure its success.
We ask all of our clients to join us in embracing this digital revolution and utilize the CEB’s digital services before the mandated implementation in light of this huge environmental impact.
