According to the Public Utilities Commission of Sri Lanka (PUCSL), a decision on the proposal put out by the Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) regarding the revision of electricity pricing is scheduled to be made on Friday (30 June).
As a result, a decision in this regard is scheduled to be made on Friday after data received at the special public consultation session held yesterday (June 27) to gather public comments regarding the proposed power rate is taken into account.
Prof. Manjula Fernando, the freshly appointed PUCSL Chairman, reaffirmed this.
On June 23, Prof. Fernando took over as PUCSL Chairman, following the Constitutional Council’s approval of his appointment.
The increased electricity pricing are scheduled to go into effect on July 1st, 2023, in accordance with CEB’s recommendation.
