Today, July 9, 2023, Thai Air Asia started service on its well-liked Bangkok (Don Mueang) to Colombo route. The brand-new service travels to the Sri Lankan capital four times every week.

The first flight resumed operations yesterday at 22:00 hours, bringing 134 passengers with it. The passengers were given gift packets of Ceylon tea from the Sri Lanka Tea Board as well as a traditional Kandyan dancing show as they arrived in BIA.

BIA facilitates 18,000–19,000 passenger movements and 110–120 aircraft movements daily, and it was observed that during the past few days, the total passenger movements exceeded 20,000 (arriving and departing) indicating an upward trend of passenger volumes at BIA. AASL is happy to see the resumption of scheduled international flight operations by international airlines, which contribute to the nation’s economy.
