The government changed the import fee for milk powder from customs.

As a result, starting on Wednesday, July 12, one kilogramme of milk powder would be subject to an import duty of Rs. 100.

For imported milk powder, there used to be a customs import fee of Rs. 225 per kilogramme, but that was later eliminated.

The Ministry of Finance, Economic Stabilisation & National Policies made the decision to reinstate the customs import charge on milk powder in light of this.

The ministry stated that this tax change will be in effect until further notice.

The Milk Powder Importers’ Association informed Ada Derana that costs for imported milk powder will rise despite the tax revision.
