For the first half of this year, the Inland income Department (IRD) reports that it has collected a total of Rs. 696,946 million in tax income.
Comparatively, the department reported that the amount of income tax revenue collected in the first half of 2022 totaled Rs. 361,832 million.
Accordingly, the tax revenue collected in the first half of this year is up 93% from the same period last year, according to a statement from the Commission General of the IRD.
He also said that the grounds for this positive growth include the clear changes in tax policy, the country’s economy’s gradual recovery, and the effectiveness of the IRD’s efforts.
The department’s CG continued, “I am very appreciative of the honourable taxpayers for their cooperation in enhancing the economic power of the nation and the officers of public and commercial institutions who supported this in many ways for this success.
