The director of the Department of Muslim Religion and Culture, Faisal Apdeen, has said in the Islamic New Year message that this new year should be a year when the Muslim community of Sri Lanka should make changes and contribute to the building of the country.

Hijri 1445 Islamic New Year begins today. This day commemorates the migration of the last messenger, Muhammad (PBUH), from Mecca to Medina for a new change.

Sri Lankan people are going through a life full of crises. They are looking forward to a new change. These expectations of the people should be fulfilled, and new hopes and new inspiration should spring up with people in this new year.

Allah Ta’ala says that Allah will not change a people until they change what they have. In that way, the director mentioned in his message that this new year should be a year when the Sri Lankan Muslim community should make changes within themselves and contribute to the building of the country.
